Stigma guitars. I bought this guitar back in 1996 or 1997 when i was living in Kokkola. Actually this is my first acoustic ( if not counting some crappy nylon, which i smashed with my fist some years ago )

This guitar has been my main instrument when i make songs. I keep it in quite low tunings ( open minors and majors, drop B etc etc )

I put a mic to this guitar about 1 -2 years ago. I like it, low, bassy sound. Easy to play.

Second acoustic is "Ibanez" which i bought from my friend, Aleksi. It`s basically in normal tuning. Good guitar also. It can be heard on the first Uhrijuhla album ( coming someday )

My gear... Danelectro baritone

Danelectro "dead on 67" Baritone guitar. ( with tremolo, but its almost useless )

Bought this one last year from Thomann.

I really like the sound of this guitar. You can play really heavy, doomish riffs with this but also some twin peaks, twangy country stuff.

I tune this one down to B tuning ( not drop one ) you can drop this one down to A..

I bought this guitar in 2007 from Texas, Austin. ( we played there with Callisto )

I think this one is from the early 90`s. This is my main guitar in Callisto.

Recorded almost all the guitar parts to Providence with this guitar.

Yamaha "Sg" with bigspy tremolo.

I remember i bought this maybe in 2002 or 2003? from super-ostis, Turku. i think this guitar is from the 90`s or something..

I used this guitar a lot back in 2002 - 2005.. originally there wasnt tremolo, i put it later..

i dont use this anymore in live situation.. ( except last year when we played "New Canaan" live in our 10th anniversary show ) i recorded "New canaan" from providence album with this guitar... this guitar is weird, sometimes it sounds good, but sometimes i cant stand the sound..

My gear part IV, V, VI, VII

Ok. I will post rest of my acoustic instruments to this same post.

First my mandolin. I bought this one maybe like 4 - 5 years ago from Turku. It was some second hand shop. This was Cheap one ( 35 euros ) but i have played it quite a lot. Actually you can hear this instrument in Callisto "Providence" album, on the track "Rule The Blood" This one is not that easy to play ( hard tension and heavy to pull out the chords ) I think it`s some cheap, Russian one..

Second instrument is my Banjo. I bought this during our America roadtrip ( 2009 ) with my wife ( from denver ) it cost like 100 euros, not bad. This one is really old one, maybe from the 70`s. I like this banjo. Its not only a decoration, i have played it a lot. Nice sound.

Third one is my Bouzuki which i bought from Greece. We did 2 shows in Athens back in 2009 with Callisto, so in that same trip i wanted to buy some souvenier. This has nice sound. I have played it a lot. Also recorded it to couple of songs.

Last one is my 12-string acoustic. This one is hard one. The neck is quite ruined and really hard to play, you cannot take any normal chords from this. I use it in open tuning and play it a lot with slide. But the main thing is that this has really full and rich sound, almost like mix of sitar,12-string and dobro! :) and it doesnt stay in tune that well.. my friend gave this to me couple of years ago.

i will post my effects, amps and rest of my electric guitars soon.

I finished recording my parts of Uhrijuhla`s upcoming album ( my new band ) Now i will concentrate practicing with Callisto ( new songs and upcoming norway show )

Päivityksiä..

Oon huomannut, että blogikulttuuri on lisääntynyt, erittäin hieno juttu!

Muistelen kun aloitin oman blogini 2010 vuonna kesällä kun jäin virkavapaalle. Päätin, että rupean kirjoittelemaan virkavapaavuodestani, mutta enpä sitten kauheen kauan loppupeleissä jaksanut sitä kirjoittaa vaikka olisinkin halunnut :)

Sitten tuli t-paitablogin vuoro ( pöllitty idea ) se oli oikein mukavaa, koska ite oon keräillyt vaikka kuinka paljon viimeisen yli 10 vuoden ajan t-paitoja eri paikoista maailmaa. T-paitablogi jatkuu kyllä taas joku päivä, samaten kuin "my gear" blogi omista soittokamoista. Sen ajattelin ehkä pitää muodikkaasti englanniksi.

Niinkuin olen monesti todennut, tää oma blogi on melkeinpä nostalgiaa ja terapiaa itselleni ja ehkä jotkut jaksaa sitä jopa lukeakin jonkun verran.

Viime aikoina olen aika pitkälti käynyt vaan töissä ja treenaillut uuden bändin kanssa ( Uhrijuhla ) menin tammikuussa ekoihin treeneihin ja siinä ei kauan treenailtu kun huomasin "oho, ollaan studiossa jo" :) uusi tilanne mulle, että edetään näin nopeeta musiikkijutuissa. Mutta toisaalta tää projekti oli tervetullut koska Callisto on viettänyt hiljaisempaa meininkiä ( luvassa on muutosta onneksi )

Joo, no pitää jatkaa sitten kun on jotain järkevempää sanottavaa.. :)

My gear part III

Ok, another boring one.. Ibanez acoustic guitar..

I bought this one last year from my friend, Aleksi. He didnt need it. I keep this little bit higher tuning ( open d minor major etc ) so almost a normal tuning :)

This one is decent acoustic, maybe little bit heavier to play comparing to my other acoustic one.

I dont know how old this is? quite new.. it cost me like 70 euros or something, not bad.

Ok, this one is little bit boring one..

This is my second acoustic guitar, i dont remember where is the first one? ( maybe some crappy nylon-string that i broke or something )

Ok, i bought this one in 1995 or 1996 when i was living in Kokkola, i bought it from my friend who didnt play it at all. "Sigma guitars est.1970" says the info, i think this is from the early 90`s.

This has been my basic tool for making songs for my different projects, its good acoustic guitar, quite low, bassy sound. I keep it in a low tune ( B, B-open tuning etc ) it has thick strings, something like 13 - 56. couple of years ago i installed electric plug-ins to it, so i can play through some pa`s or through some amp.

This is not those fancy, expensive guitars, but i dont care, it suits for me. I could say that i have made almost 80% of all the songs with this guitar so far from 1996 to this day.

I bought this guitar from Turku, http://www.superostis.net/ it was new when i bought it 2-3 years ago and it cost app. 400 - 500 euros, not bad?

My main idea was to get guitar that is nothing like i already have, something like mix of Strat or Tele and has tremolo unit. This seemed to be a perfect choice and i havent regret it. I think The Shadows played with this guitar so a big fan of twang and country sounding guitars this one was my choice.

I havent used this in the studio ( soon will ) I have used it when i have made new Callisto songs and it is also a main instrument in my other two bands ( Jumalan lapset and my new band Uhrijuhla ) With Callisto new songs this suits perfectly ( really noisy, Sonic youth type of sound but also excellent clean sound ) and with other bands really great twang and country sound in it.

The tunings that i use with this are mainly open tunings ( BF#BD#F#B / BF#BDF#B and BEBEG#B) and occasially i have to use Capo in some songs. i play with slide a lot, so open tunings are my choice with this guitar.

Hyvää uutta vuotta!

Maanantai 10.toukokuuta 2010 aloitin tän blogin ja tarkoituksenahan oli päivitellä vuoden virkavapaatani ( siitähän on jo jauhettu ihan tarpeeksi ) Siinä sivussa tuli kerrottua kaikenlaista muutakin, tehtyä t-paitablogia ( mikä tulee jatkumaan jossain vaiheessa )

Oon aina halunnut ja yrittänyt kirjoittaa säännöllisesti päiväkirjaa mutta koskaan se ei ole onnistunut kunnolla ( ainakaan paperisessa muodossa ) Tän blogin myötä ajattelin, että tää voisi olla melkein luonnollisin keino pitää jonkinlaista päiväkirjaa ( mä olen äärimmäisen nostalginen ja melankolinen ihminen ja tykkään muistella menneitä kivoja juttuja vähän liikaakin ) osittain aika pelottavaakin jos oikein kunnolla miettii?

Niinku olen varmaan monesti toistanutkin, niin kirjoitan tätä blogia pääosin päiväkirjamentaliteetilla, itselleni ( joopajoo! ) Mutta ehkä kaiken tän selittelyn ja päivittelyn keskeltä joku voi jotain mielenkiintoistakin löytää luettavaksi.

Viime syksy oli äärimmäisen raskas kaikin puolin, en sitä lähde sen enempää vatvomaan ( hassua kahtoa ku heinäkuussa oli edellinen kirjoitus ja seuraava oli joulukuun vikoina päivinä ) siitä voi päätellä paljon mikä asia vienyt sen huomion koko elämältä :)

Uusi vuosi 2012? Mitä tuo tullessaan?

Urheilemisen ainakin meinaan aloittaa uudestaan ( salilla käyntiä, uimista, juoksua + toivottavasti hiihto kunhan lumi tulisi ) viime syksy mennyt äärimmäisen savuisissa ja epäterveellisen ruuan merkeissä ja liikunta kuihtunut aika olemattomiin. Olin yövuorossa hiukan ennen vuoden vaihtumista ja mietein helpottuneena "nyt kun on remontti ohi, niin nyt alkaa täysremontti kropan suhteen" oon ton hetken jälkeen käynyt pari kertaa jo juoksemassa ja kerran uimassa ja ens viikon alussa toivottavasti alkaa säännöllinen salitreenaus. ( Tiedän, tää kuulostaa melkein jokaisen ihmisen säälittävältä uudenvuoden lupaukselta ) Mutta ite ainakin meinaan yrittää pitää tän lupauksen.. suosittelen muillekin.

Työt jatkuu kehitysvammaisten parissa niinkuin aiemminkin, pienenä bonuksena mun työpaikka vaihtaa sijaintia tossa loppukeväästä ( mulla lyhenee työmatka vajaa 2km ) tavallaan hiukan huono kun hyötyliikunta vähenee, mut toisaalta kannustaa menemään pyörällä töihin enemmän. Nyt työmatka on vajaa 7km.

Musiikkijuttujen saralla jutut näyttää aika mielenkiintoiselta.

Jumalan Lapset ( mun toinen pääbändi Calliston ohella ) rupee työstämään ensimmäistä demoansa ihan kohtapuolin ja tän projektin kanssa olisi mukava päästä keikoille, no yksi keikka me tehtiin jo viime vuonna. Callisto on viettänyt hiukan hiljaiseloa erinäisistä syistä riippuen, mutta uusia piisejä meillä on treenattuna ja demotettuna aika iso liuta. Odotan, että päästään työstämään niitä valmiiksi ja studioon, toivottavasti jo tänä vuonna, koska edellinen levy tuli ulos 2009 toukokuussa ja siitä rupeaa oleen jo aika tovi.

Ja on mulla 2 - 4 projektia Calliston ja Jumalan lasten lisäksi muhimassa takaraivossa ( 2 näistä projekteista on jo päässyt osittain käytännön tasolle ) luulen, että tänä vuonna jotkut näistä projekteista näkee kunnolla konkretiaa.. + näiden lisäksi varmaan keikka tai pari soitetaan Jeesus&Johnny Cash bändin kanssa ( eka keikka oli jo 2008 ja edellinen 2011 viime vuonna Mikaelin seurakunnassa ) Ideanahan tän projektin kanssa on soittaa Johnny Cashin piisejä, uudelleen sovitettuina, eri laulajien kanssa, pääosin American recordings levyiltä, pari kolme vanhempaa rallia 60/70 luvulta.

Siinäpä ne tärkeimmät kuulumiset. Nyt ei tarvi jutella kenenkään kanssa mitään turhaa smalltalkia kun on kertonut julkisesti kuulumiset ja ajatukset! :)
